The Gibraltar Gaels start to their new season has not gone unnoticed with two wins from two games, which means they are now standing on top of the table ahead of Eire Og Seville and Costa Gaels. Two hard earned back to back victories at the Marbella Rugby ground last weekend has been put down to the high standard set a training each week at the Devils Tower Road Camp.
Gaelic Football has, in recent years, flourished on ‘The Rock’ with ‘The Gaels’ winning the league in their maiden year in 2013 and are now looking to emulate that feat this season as well as challenging in the Iberian League. This summer, following a Sky Sports three-year deal with the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland live coverage of the Gaelic Football has graced our screens on has become very popular in Gibraltar.
The Club’s next outing will be to represent Gibraltar at the Iberian Cup in Seville on 22nd November. Clubs from Galicia, Madrid, Barcelona and Andalucia will compete for this inaugural title. The team forms part of the European County Board and have members from many nationalities: Gibraltarian, Irish, English, Australian, Spanish, Czech & Romanian and are always looking for new players, supporters and people to help out.
